IVSI - International Recognition for UKSS Coach Qualifications
IVSI is the awarding body for international coaching qualifications. (Similar to ISIA for instructor qualifications).
The IVSI accreditation is awarded in the UK by Snowsport England to those holding UK Snowsports (originally UKCP) coaching qualifications issued by Snowsport Scotland, England and Wales.
Holders of the IVSI accreditation are recognised internationally and receive a range of discounts according to the type of IVSI card held.
Historically only UKSS L3 Performance Coach (formerly UKCP L3) and UKSS L4 Development Coach qualifications have been eligible for the IVSI card. Thanks to significant changes and development by IVSI, they are now able to offer a range of three new levels of “smartcard”; silver, gold and platinum, to a much wider range of UK Snowsport licensed coaches and instructors. (see table below)
The new smartcard will offer contactless checking of a coach or instructor’s qualification status, by clubs or facilities in real time, using an electronic tagging system, removing the need for annual stamps and new cards.
This is a significant development for UK Snowsport Coaches, and the UK is working with France, Austria, Germany and Belgium to deliver the first tranche of these cards for winter 2024. The remaining IVSI nations will follow in winter 2025
What does this mean for you:
1. If you currently hold an IVSI card or you currently hold a UK Snowsports Alpine and Park and Pipe L3 Performance Coach (Originally UKCP L3) qualification, you will now receive an IVSI Gold Card
2. If you hold a UK Snowsport Alpine and Park and Pipe L2 (Originally UKCPL2) qualification, you will now be eligible to receive an IVSI Silver Card - this is a significant development, giving international recognition to a wider range of UK coaches
News will follow regarding the initial issue of cards over this coming winter, but in the meantime, if you have any questions please email info@snowsportscotland.org
