Renewed Funding for Women & Girls Coach and Instructor Qualifications

Following a successful year of progress and increased female participation in instruction and coaching, Snowsport Scotland is proud to announce the renewal of its Women & Girls Coach Education Subsidy for the 2025/2026 season, thanks to continued support from sportscotland.

The initiative, valid from April 1st 2025 to March 31st 2026, builds on the overwhelming success of last year’s programme, which saw a significant rise in the number of qualified female coaches and instructors across Scotland’s slopes.

The 2025/2026 subsidy continues to target key barriers to entry for women and girls—financial cost, logistical challenges, and underrepresentation—by offering grants for a wide range of qualification courses. Eligible programmes include instructor certifications in skiing and snowboarding, Alpine racing, Park & Pipe freestyle, Nordic cross-country, and mountain induction courses.

Key Subsidy Details:

  • Level 1 courses: Up to 50% funding, max £200

  • Level 2 & 3 courses: Up to 50% funding, max £375

  • Support available for course costs, travel/accommodation, and childcare

  • Individual needs-based assessment by a Snowsport Scotland panel

  • Courses must begin before March 31, 2026 to qualify

Applicants must hold (or be working towards) a valid Coach/Leader/Instructor membership with Snowsport Scotland and reside in Scotland.

Only courses listed within the programme and run by approved awarding bodies are eligible for funding. All grants are subject to review, and applicants are required to provide a fully completed application along with receipts for costs.

Applications are now open, and aspiring female coaches across Scotland are encouraged to apply early to take full advantage of this opportunity.

To apply, please fill out this application form. If you have any questions please email: education@snowsportscotland.org.
