ROAD TO THE PARALYMPICS: ZYW AND ALLEN SECURE SELECTION WITH ARNOLD CLARK SUPPORT
Two of Britain’s most inspiring winter sports athletes, Davy Zyw and Dom Allen, have been selected to represent ParalympicsGB at the upcoming Paralympic Games, a landmark achievement made possible in part thanks to the vital backing of Arnold Clark and Get Kids Going!.
DAVY ZYW: “I REPRESENT EVERY SOUL WHO FIGHTS NEURO CONDITIONS”
Edinburgh-born Zyw, 38, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in 2018. Since then, he has channelled his energy into elite sport while tirelessly raising awareness and funds for research into the condition, balancing competition with his career in the wine trade as an expert champagne buyer and author.
This season has been his strongest yet. Zyw secured multiple Europa Cup podium finishes, including two crucial silver medals at Big White, Canada, in February — results that propelled him to overall bronze in the season-long rankings and ultimately helped seal his Paralympic selection.
“I’m stoked beyond measure,” said Zyw. “Every time I strap into my snowboard I count my stars. Getting selected isn’t just a personal achievement. I represent and ride for every soul who fights neuro conditions.
“The journey to get to the Games has been immense, but nothing is impossible. Yes, the competition is insane, inspiring and fierce, but my real battle is with MND, and we are racing to find a cure.” (ParalympicsGB).
Support from Arnold Clark proved pivotal in enabling Zyw to fund his trip to Big White where he captured the two silvers that proved decisive in his qualification campaign.
DOM ALLEN: A RISING STAR IN PARA ALPINE
Sixteen-year-old Dom Allen, from Fife, one of the brightest young talents in British Para Alpine skiing, will compete in the Slalom and Giant Slalom events in the standing class.
Allen joined the GB Para Alpine Development Squad in 2023 and has rapidly progressed through the ranks, demonstrating composure and technical skill beyond his years. Receiving his classification as recently as November 2025, Dom went on to reach his first National Championships podium in January 2026 at Jasná, Slovakia, winning the Slalom and finishing second in the Giant Slalom. His selection marks a major milestone in what promises to be a long and exciting career on the international stage.
Like Zyw, Allen’s journey has been supported by Arnold Clark and Get Kids Going!, whose funding helped the Para Alpine squad access crucial on-snow training at high-performance camps in Cervinia.
BACKING THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE
Elite para winter sport demands year-round training, international travel and specialist equipment - costs that can often present significant barriers to athletes and families.
The backing from Arnold Clark and Get Kids Going! has been instrumental in ensuring Britain’s para alpine and snowboard athletes can compete, and succeed, on the world stage. From the slopes of Cervinia to the podium in Big White, that support has translated into tangible results.
As Zyw and Allen now turn their focus to the Paralympic Games, their selections stand not only as personal triumphs but as powerful examples of resilience, belief and the impact of committed support behind the scenes.
