FEBRUARY 2026 UPDATE
What a Games it has been, and a genuine privilege and moment of pride to watch Scottish athletes contributing to Team GB finishing 15th out of 96 nations at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. By any measure, these were Great Britain’s most successful Winter Games to date. In proportional terms, and particularly when measured against team size, the medal return places GB among the very top-performing nations globally.
As we acknowledge the massive personal commitment made by so many and indulge in this phenomenal success, we also recognise that for our athletes, the moment of celebration will be brief. Their attention will now quickly turn back to training, World Cup calendars and the disciplined progression that will be required over the next four-year cycle leading to the French Alps 2030.
As they do so, we simply say “Well done and many congratulations - a job well done!”…
Let us all relish this outstanding achievement for 10 more days and then, on Friday 6 March, the focus will shift once more as the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games open. This, I’m sure will be another fantastic showcase of British talent and we extend our very best wishes to every athlete preparing to compete. All of us here at Snowsport Scotland will be right behind you.
