Snowsport Scotland announced today (1 June 2022) the appointment of Scott Simon as the governing body’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Simon has developed an extensive career in sport, recently including six years at British Canoeing which culminated as the Head Coach and Team Leader for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, and has previously contracted for the Scottish Institute for Sport coaching elite and pathway multi-sport athletes. Most recently Scott has been the interim Chair and Performance Director at Scottish Rugby League.

Confirming the appointment, Robbie Clyde, Chair of Snowsport Scotland said, ‘Scott brings extensive knowledge and leadership experience across a range of sports, and crucially knows what it takes to develop and support teams and athletes to the highest levels in sport. This made him the ideal candidate, and I look forward to working with him to bring that same drive and enthusiasm to continue to raise the profile of Snowsports, grow our membership, and inspire the next generation of skiers and snowboarders across Scotland.

Simon said, ‘I am thrilled to be joining Snowsport Scotland at an exciting time and aspire to contribute to continued growth across the industry and in doing so provide quality experiences for our members, communities and athletes. This is a sport I am passionate about and I am enthused to have the opportunity to contribute to the sports legacy by improving participation and increasing performance as a modern, forward-thinking organisation.’

Based in Aviemore, Simon will take up his post immediately on 1 June.
