Snowsport Scotland Training Centres

Snowsport Scotland Training Centres (SSTC’s) are accredited to organise and deliver instructor, leader and/or coach training courses on behalf of the national governing body.

Currently circa 12 ski centres, ski schools, clubs and independent training organisations are accredited as SSTC’s. Some operate in Scotland and some abroad.

All training centres and independent course organisers handle all the organisation and finances around the scheduling of courses. They must use Snowsport Scotland appointed tutors to deliver each training course. This ensures that all candidates receive consistent quality no matter where they are trained.

Interested in becoming a Training Centre - Find out more!

The Snowsport Scotland Training Centre (SSTC) accreditation will empower you to organise and deliver instructor, leader and/or coach training courses on behalf of Snowsport Scotland.

The main benefits of this accreditation are:-

1. THE OPPORTUNITY TO:-

Extend your product offering to include a ‘professional’ training and qualifications pathway for your own members, customers and/or staff.
Build and develop your own workforce to support the activities of your organisation
Fast-track your instructor and coach recruitment process
Support the development of SSS tutors and potentially develop your own internal course tutors.

2. FLEXIBILITY TO:-

Schedule courses to suit your own needs, around your own timetable.
Either subsidise and reduce the cost of training to specific candidates as you see fit or
Generate additional funds for your club or organisation

3. CREDIBILITY THROUGH:-

Status as a Snowsport Scotland Training Centre

TUTOR DEVELOPMENT

In order for Snowsport Scotland and its training centres to assure consistent quality of training, only tutors trained and appointed by the NGB can be used to deliver training. If an SSTC has within its employees or contracted /volunteer personnel a person who is appointed as a tutor, this can vastly ease the efficiency with which the SSTC is able to manage course scheduling and delivery.

SSTC’s are therefore encouraged to either build a close working relationship with an existing appointed tutor or try and identify and nominate suitably qualified, high calibre, experienced members of their own staff/volunteers and nominate them to join the Snowsport Scotland Tutor Development Programme (TDP) to start the journey of becoming appointed as Snowsport Scotland tutor.

After a discussion clarifying your aspirations and the opportunites open to you, you will be sent a pack detailing the terms and conditions of being a training centre.
