Roy Young receives BEM in Queen’s Birthday Honours

Everyone at Snowsport Scotland is delighted to hear the fantastic news that Roy Young will be given a BEM, for services to Nordic skiing and to the community in Huntly, in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Roy is currently Chair for Huntly Nordic Ski Club (HNSC) and is a member of GBSnowsport Nordic committee. He was previously Head Coach for HNSC, Head Coach for the British Nordic Development Squad (BNDS) then GB National Head Coach for Nordic skiing. He led the cross country team at three winter Olympics and has been awarded Snowsport Scotland Coach of the Year.
Roy developed the cross country skiing pathway, grassroots to Olympics, firstly with HNSC then as Head Coach of BNDS. Working with Sport Scotland Institute of Sport he built the systems which have taken eight different athletes (five from Huntly) to four Olympics and was the Nordic Head Coach at Vancouver, Sochi and Pyeong Chang.
Congratulations Roy!
