BSA GBR Indoor race 3 & Scottish Indoor Championships

We invite registered racers to compete in the BSA GBR on Sat 15th June followed by the Scottish Indoor Championships on Sun 16th June to be held at Snow Factor Braehead, Glasgow.  This event is organised by Snowsport Scotland. We would like to thank the management and staff of Snow Factor and all volunteers for their assistance, without whom there would not be a race.

 

The BSA GBR Race Series brings together national domestic races across the UK with races being organised by the Home Nations in England, Scotland and Wales both on indoor and outdoor artificial slopes. For details on the GBR race weekends, events and race rules please visit www.gbski.com

Entry Criteria and Acceptance

These races held over the weekend are open to racers currently registered with their respective home nation and meeting the age group categories eligible for seeding for 2019 (born 2007 or earlier). There will also be 2 unseeded races for U10/U12.

 

The number of entrants is limited to a maximum of 180.  

Entries will be accepted until the closing date Mon 10th June. We will however close entries before this date if the maximum number is reached.

 

It is also intended to run a ‘fun’ Pro Slalom event on the Saturday 15th June, this additional event is dependent upon the programme running to time and snow conditions.

 

Entry Fees

The entry fee for the GBR/Scottish Championships Indoor races is £35 per day. This covers warm-up, course inspection and racing. A separate uplift ticket must be purchased from the ticket office if you wish to free ski.

Lunch consisting of soup plus (filled baguette / wrap) is included in the entry fee each day.

Start Order

The start order will be drawn at the Jury meeting using the iBARTS Seed List.  This seed list can be found on the web site www.gbski.com  The start lists will be published on www.gbski.com  and on the official notice board on the morning of the race.

GBR Indoor Race 3 (Slalom)

The race will be run as a special slalom consisting of 2 runs down two different courses. The first run will be in bib order. The second run will be start with the top 30 in reverse time order from the first run.

 

For u10/u12 the format for the event will be 2 runs through a stubbies course, of which the fastest of the run will count for prizes. This race is open to registered racers in the Under 10 category (YOB 2010-2011) and Under 12 (2008-2009) and will not be seeded.

 

Sunday 16th June 2019

Scottish IndoorChampionships (Slalom)

Every attempt will be made to keep to the event schedule; however the organisers reserve the right to amend the schedule as appropriate.

 

 

Race Rules / Health & Safety / Drug testing

The race will be run in accordance with FIS rules as published in the BACR. Please see www.gbski.com for BACR rules.

During inspection racers need to wear or carry their bib so that it is visible. This is to show that you are entitled to be in the course area.

Inspection on foot by racers is not permissible

Helmets must been worn by anyone on the slope. Please also note the helmet rules for competitors can be found at www.gbski.com

The U10/U12 course will be run using stubbies and will not be seeded. 

Gloves and long sleeved garments which also cover the midriff must be worn at all times whilst on the slope, including during open practice, course inspection and the race itself.

 

Awards

Overall Awards will be made to 1st, 2nd & 3rd Male & Female racers.

Age Group awards will be made to 1st, 2nd & 3rd Male & Female racers in each age group.

Age Group awards will be made to 1st, 2nd & 3rd Male & Female racers in the U10/U12 race.

Refreshments

Food and drinks will be available to purchase from Bar Varia situated within Snow Factor.

Please note: there are other food venues within the INTU complex but only food bought from Bar Varia may be consumed within Snow Factor.

 

First Aid

First aid cover will be provided by Snow Factor staff.

HEALTH & SAFETY

During open practice bibs MUST BE WORN so that the number is visible from back and front. Racers without a bib will be asked to leave the slope.

Access to the slope is for officials and racers only. Coaches may accompany their racers during course inspection only but must be on skis .

Race trainers/coaches who accompany their racers must be qualified and carry the relevant accreditation issued by the race office on the day.

Inspection on foot by either racers or coaches is not permissible

Racers will be advised of the method of inspection prior to the start of course inspection.

Anyone accessing the slope must wear a helmet.

 

Venue Rules

Racer assistants (e.g. coach or parent) will not be allowed in the Start Area because of the restricted size of the start area and the impact of overall numbers on the authorized fire capacity of the arena.

Ski preparation is not allowed anywhere inside the Snow Factor.

Ski boots may be worn only between the Arena and Race Office area. Racers and officials who wish to go elsewhere in the centre must wear street footwear.

Snow Factor will accept no responsibility for valuables left unattended.

All skis must be stored in ski racks and not left at the entrance to the link bridge or the air lock doors – any skis left in this area will be removed.

Access to and from Snow Factor must be via public entrance on the first floor. The ground floor staff entrance will be out of bounds to non-staff.
