Autumn Competitions and Snowsport Scotland Update

With Phase 3 of the Scottish Govt Covid-19 roadmap well underway, Snowsport Scotland has been looking to communicate its approach to the upcoming series of autumn events and competitions.

With sportscotland advising that restrictions are still in place for competitions and large gatherings, we have concluded that we will be required to take each event and competition as it comes and in view of the constantly changing situation, evaluate whether it is viable, responsible and safe enough to go ahead with each event at the 6 week lead in point.

At this point we can therefore confirm that: –

  • The Scottish Alpine Dryslope Championships will be cancelled. Based on the current guidelines issued by sportscotland and Scottish Government, we are unable to run this event to the full potential that it deserves.
  • The Ellis Brigham Triple Crown Dryslope Champs will be postponed from the original date in September; however, we will monitor the ongoing changing guidelines and confirm a future date as soon as we can with at least a 6-week lead-in time.

We completely understand the disappointment in the cancellation and rearrangement of these events, but we hope that you can understand and appreciate the difficult decision made in these challenging times.

With that being said, we are still looking ahead in the year and our hope is that we will still be able to run some of our events. Looking forwards we can confirm the following: –

The Snowsport Scotland Summit and AGM will be going ahead; however, it will now become a series of virtual sessions offering CPD workshops, keynote speakers, a GB Snowsports update and the SSS AGM – More information will follow.

The Scottish Alpine Indoor Champs is still planned for weekend of the 14/15 November and registrations will open shortly.
