Dear Ski Racers & Families,
The AJ Bursary, in association with ATC, has been established in the memory Alistair Jeynes Ellis, a much loved young ATC racer. Each bursary will cover up to six weeks of ski camps abroad with ATC and includes full financial support (excluding flights). The AJ Bursary is open to all racers who meet the criteria outlined below, from any club in Scotland.
Over the past year, ATC has successfully transitioned to become a registered Scottish charity, with the goal of making ski racing more inclusive and accessible to all talented young athletes – whatever their background.
Following an initial round of fundraising for the AJ Bursary, we are delighted to announce that we have collectively raised enough to fund 24 weeks of subsidised race training. AJ’s parents and all of us at ATC would like to thank the many people who have generously given their support.
The AJ Bursary
Aimed at providing much needed support to ski-racing children, the AJ Bursary will enable more young racers to access training in the Alps. In addition to supporting promising ski racers, the bursary’s goal is to encourage the development of values such as curiosity, generosity and caring for your fellow teammates, all qualities AJ was known for. These are values that are prioritised by ATC and shared throughout their race camps.
The AJ Bursary targets young ski racers aged 11-15 with at least three years of racing experience and covers up to six weeks of ATC training camps. You can find the application details and form on the ATC website here.
Applications for the coming ski season are open until 1st July, 2021. The bursaries will then be considered by a selection panel that includes a coaching representative as well as AJ’s
parents. The first camp that is eligible for a bursary will be in October 2021. Successful applicants will be notified in early August.
If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch or go to the website where you will find more information on the AJ Bursary, the ATC Charity and our ATC Racing Camps. Donations to the AJ Bursary are through the Just Giving page, here.
Sincerely, ATC Trustees
