The aim of this page is provide a brief overview on the type and level of cover provided by the SSS policy with full details being available in the Policy Certificate provided by Endsleigh. For the purposes of this document the term ‘Coaches’ also refers to ‘Instructors’ and ‘Leaders’ who are registered with SSS.
Public Liability – £10 Million
Professional Indemnity – £10 Million
Coaches are provided with Public Liability and Professional Indemnity cover as part of their annual registration to SSS. For cover to be valid then the following criteria are in place;
1. Current registered coach with SSS. This runs annually from 1 Oct to 30 Sept.
2. Working within the remit of qualifications held.
3. Up to date Credentials recorded on the SSS database. This includes;
a. Current CPD
b. Current First Aid certificate
c. Current Disclosure certificate
d. Completed Child Protection training
To be covered for any off piste activities the coach is required to hold a minimum of the qualifications listed below;
1. IASI L1 Off Piste Security – Off piste within the resort boundary.
2. SSS Mountain Snowsports Leader – Off piste out with the resort boundary in the UK.
There is no coverage provided for off piste activities out with the resort boundary abroad or on glaciated terrain. Those operating in these environments should be full time professionals living in resort and carry their own insurance policy to meet the specific needs of their business.
Insurance cover has been extended to coaches working as a Sole Trader providing their turnover does not exceed GBP £20,000. Those operating in Partnerships, Limited Companies and Limited Liability Partnerships should have their own insurance coverage specific to the needs of their business.
