Alpine Racing

The Alpine Racing calendar in Scotland is steeped in history and tradition with some events having been run for decades! The Alpine Racing scene is as vibrant as ever and the annual calendar sees 30+ competitions run each year on snow and artificial slopes. Competitions are organised by clubs, facilities, and Snowsport Scotland.

January

Anglo Scottish Cup

The Anglo Scottish Cup is organised by Scottish Ski Club and The British Ski Academy this long standing competition traditionally takes place in the alps with its current home being Les Houches, Chamonix. The organisers offer seeded BASS point races for U14 and U16 competitors as well as unseeded races for U12 and U10 competitors.

Snowsport Scotland FIS Races

Snowsport Scotland organise a series of FIS races in the alps, most recently these races were held in Reiteralm, Austria. These races are seeded FIS races suitable for those U18, U21 and Senior racers with an international FIS licence.

The Gordon Skiers Open

The Gordon Skiers Open is part of the Scottish Alpine Series of races and is organised by Gordon Skiers at the Lecht. The organisers offer seeded BASS point races for U14, U16, U18, U21, Seniors and Masters competitors, as well as unseeded races for U12, U10 and U8 competitors.

February

Glenshee Winter Games

The Glenshee Winter Games is part of the Scottish Alpine Series of races and is organised by Aberdeen Snowsports Club and Glenshee Performance Squad. The organisers offer seeded BASS point races for U14, U16, U18, U21, Seniors and Masters competitors, as well as unseeded races for U12, U10 and U8 competitors.

Cairngorm Open

The Cairngorm Open is part of the Scottish Alpine Series of races and is organised by Cairngorm Ski Club. The organisers offer seeded BASS point races for U14, U16, U18, U21, Seniors and Masters competitors, as well as unseeded races for U12, U10 and U8 competitors.

March 

Scottish Masters Races

These races are for older racers, those over the age of 30, and are a relaxed but fun set of races organised by a few enthusiastic volunteers.

Scottish Children’s Championships and Bairns Bucket

The Scottish Children’s Championships are seeded BASS point races for U14 and U16 competitors, organised by Scottish Ski Club.  Over the same weekend they also organise the Bairns Bucket competition which is unseeded races for U12, U10 and U8 competitors.

April

Snowsport Scotland FIS Races

Snowsport Scotland organise a series of FIS races at the end of the season on the Scottish slopes, most recently these races were held at Nevis Range and Cairngorm Mountain.  These races are seeded FIS races suitable for those U18, U21 and Senior racers with an international FIS licence.

June

Twin Peaks

The Twin Peaks consists of a series of two races over one weekend.  The Firpark Ski Slalom at Firpark, Tillycoultry is organised by Muckhart and District Ski Club and the LSRA Extra Special Slalom at Midlothian Ski Centre is organised by Lothian Ski Race Association, together they make up the Twin Peaks. The organisers offer seeded BARTs (British Artificial Seeding System) Point races for U14, U16, U18, U21, Seniors and Masters competitors, as well as unseeded races for U12, U10 and U8 competitors.

Scottish Indoor Alpine Championships and GBR Indoor Alpine Series Race

This weekend of races is organised by Snowsport Scotland at Snow Factor, Braehead.  These races are seeded BARTs (British ARTificial Seeding System) point races for U14, U16, U18, U21, Seniors and Masters competitors, as well as unseeded races for U12 and U10 competitors.

Scottish Dryslope Championships

The Scottish Dryslope Championship is organised by Snowsport Scotland at Midlothian Ski Centre. These races are seeded BARTs (British ARTificial Seeding System) point races for U14, U16, U18, U21, Seniors and Masters competitors, as well as unseeded races for U12 and U10 competitors.

Craig MacFie

Named in memory of LSRA and Scottish Ski Team racer Craig MacFie, Lothian Ski Race Association this the organisers offer seeded BARTs (British ARTificial Seeding System) point races for U14, U16, U18, U21, Seniors and Masters competitors, as well as unseeded races for U12 and U10 competitors. These races are held at Midlothian Ski Centre.

October

Bairns and Lassies

Organised by Lothian Ski Race Association at Midlothian Ski Centre this un-seeded race is open to both registered and non-registered racers in age categories U16, U14, U12, U10 and U8.
