Musgrave shines at Tour de Ski, Ryding in World Cup action tomorrow in Croatia and World Cup Big Air in Moscow this weekend

Andrew Musgrave has had a great start to the Tour de Ski sealing another top 10 finish today in the 15km Freestyle in Obertsdorf. This follows his 19th place in the Skiathlon yesterday. His 10th place finish today leaves him lying in 10th position in the overall standings. In Val Mustair he also finished in 10th place in the Sprint on New Year’s Eve with teammate Andrew Young just behind him in 11th. Callum Smith finished in 70th position. Then on New Year’s Day, Musgrave came in 17th in the 10km Classic with Young in 50th and Callum Smith in 71st. In the women’s event, Annika Taylor was 54th in the Sprint Freestyle finals and 56th in the 5km Classic mass start.

After a break tomorrow, the Tour de Ski continues onto Toblach, Italy on Friday, then Val di Fiemme at the weekend, also in Italy.

Delancey British Alpine Team


Delancey British Alpine Team athlete Dave Ryding is back in action tomorrow for the Men’s Slalom World Cup in Zagreb, Croatia after finishing 2016 in 8th place in the FIS Slalom World Cup Standings. Run one will begin at 13.45 GMT with run two at 17.00 GMT. The second run will be live on Eurosport. He will then travel over to Switzerland to race in the next Slalom World Cup in Adelbolden on Sunday. The first run starts at 9.30 GMT with the second run at 12.30 GMT. The action will be shown on Eurosport as well as on the first BBC Ski Sunday of the series (18.15 on BBC 2, this Sunday 8th January).

Teammate Alex Tilley will race in the Maribor World Cup this weekend in Slovenia. The GS is on Saturday followed by the Slalom on Sunday. This follows a DNF from Tilley in yesterday’s Slalom World Cup in Zagreb, where unfortunately Charlie Guest also DNF on the first run.

GB Park and Pipe

This weekend sees Katie Ormerod, Jamie Nicholls and Matt McCormick competing in the next World Cup Snowboard Big Air in Moscow, Russia. After having to pull out of the Copper Mountain World Cup Final at the end of last year due to a minor injury, Katie Ormerod will be looking to reclaim her podium form. Qualification and finals are both on Saturday.
