In what is an exciting time for British snowsports, with the launch of two new funding initiatives and the imminent announcement of a new high-profile Performance Director, British Ski and Snowboard are looking for experienced, knowledgeable and highly motivated individuals to help drive the organisation forward.
Following the approval of British Ski and Snowboard (BSS) new Articles of Association at the AGM on 26th September, BSS require the establishment of six Discipline Committees with the Chairman and Vice Chairman elected by the members of BSS who are affiliated to that Discipline. The Chairman and Vice Chairman of each of the Discipline Committees are also eligible to stand for one of the three Discipline Director positions appointed to the Board of BSS.
We are searching for Discipline Committee Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen across four Discipline Committees: Alpine, Nordic, Speed and Telemark. The Snowboard Committee is searching for just a Chairman.
These voluntary positions will be a chance for the right candidate to make a huge difference to British snowsports and help some of our elite British athletes achieve the same type of success as many of our summer sports. You will have the chance to be part of the transformation of British snowsports with a Winter Olympics 16 months away and the chance to work alongside our new Performance Director. The two new funding initiatives, The British Ski and Snowboard National Foundation and British Snowsports Fund, will also bring new opportunities to both the organisation and athletes, and you can help shape these opportunities.
The appointed Chairmen or Vice-Chairmen of the Discipline committees will also be eligible to stand for one of the three Discipline Directors who will be appointed to the Board of BSS.
Please see document here for further information on the Election Process. If you wish to be considered for one of these positions, you will need to be nominated by a British Ski and Snowboard member. Click here for the nomination form.
Candidates will need to outline their vision for British snowsports and the Discipline they would like to lead, as well as their skills in terms of governance, strategic planning, marketing, HR, IT and risk management.
The closing date for nominations is 30th October 2016.
If you require any more information or wish to have an informal discussion about the role then please contact Dave Edwards (Dave.Edwards@teambss.org) via email with times that you are available for a telephone call.
