GB Park and Pipe snowboarder Katie Ormerod has taken second place at the prestigious big air event, Air + Style in Innsbruck, her 6th podium of the season.
Ormerod (19) from Brighouse, Yorkshire was on fire, landing a back 9 - the first one in competition. She looked impressive all night, but was just nudged down into second by Finnish athlete Enni Rukajarvi. Sina Canadian from Switzerland took third.
Ormerod said after the victory: "I'm super happy to take second in such a historic event. It was amazing to compete here, and it feels great to get on the first ever girls podium."
Air + Style is the original stadium snowboard event, and the Innsbruck leg has been at the heart of European and world snowboarding for many years. It is regarded as one of the most prestigious events on the snowboard calendar. 2017 is the first year female athletes have competed alongside the men.
